In Memory of Elder Dan Busch – Founder of Advent Hope
Elder Dan Busch was many things to many people – a loving husband, a devoted father, a skilled and respected dentist, a loyal friend, and most importantly, a sincere and faithful Christian. But to the Advent Hope family, he was much more. Elder Dan was God’s chosen instrument in founding our church, established with a clear purpose: to proclaim God’s final warning message to the world and to prepare hearts for Christ’s soon return.
Dan was more than a believer – he was a true disciple of Jesus. His life radiated a passion for souls, a deep desire to see every person he encountered come to know the Savior and receive the gift of eternal life. His boldness in sharing the gospel was matched only by the depth of his compassion. Whether through words of encouragement, acts of service, or generous support, Elder Dan went above and beyond to meet needs wherever he found them.
His passing was sudden and deeply felt, leaving a space that no one else can fill. Yet, his legacy lives on – in the mission of this church, in the lives he touched, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Elder Dan Busch finished his course with faith and love, and we eagerly await the day when we will be reunited with him at the return of our Lord.
Elder Harold Sykes – Lay Leader
Harold Sykes serves as a lay-pastor at Advent Hope, where he brings a deep passion for Scripture and a heart for both seekers and believers. Once a committed atheist, Harold’s journey to faith has given him a unique perspective and a strong desire to help others encounter the mercy and grace that transformed his life.
He is the founder of Ascribe Publications, a ministry focused on teaching, writing, and speaking to illuminate the beauty and, logic found in God’s Word. Through this platform, Harold encourages others to “ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name” (Psalm 29:2).
Harold also co-hosts the podcast Are You Sure with his non-SDA cousin, where they engage in thoughtful conversations about life, belief, and doubt from different worldviews. The podcast reflects Harold’s commitment to respectful dialogue and honest inquiry.
Alongside his wife Chaundra, Harold helps operate Sabbatical Lake, a retreat center focused on women’s health and wellness. Together, they offer a peaceful space for physical and spiritual renewal rooted in biblical principles.
Harold’s life and ministry are driven by a simple mission: to uplift Christ, share truth in love, and point others to the goodness of God.
